NATALIE GRAY
THE WORLD’S ONLY ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONIST STANDUP COMEDIENNE!
With all the success in the art world you might
logically wonder “WHY STAND UP COMEDY TOO??”
A little background might help to answer this!
Natalie literally grew up in entertainment. Her father rehearsed with Ozzy Osbourne, opened for Tom Jones, the Who, the Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Queen and the Electric Light Orchestra and the first 3 years of Natalie’s life were spent on the road being babysat by strippers.

The competition for Mommy’s affection was pretty intense between a small child and a limelight hungry father but Natalie soon learned that being funny could get Mom’s attention quicker than a snazzy guitar riff!

As her talents with a paintbrush grew, so did her passion for performing and she hit the stage at age 12 in the UK in her first starring role as Aladdin.

The Gray family moved to Canada, where Natalie continued to flourish, winning a national modelling contest and starring in over 100 episodes of Canadian television. She has been nominated for 6 ACTRA awards for hosting, interviewing and acting.

She studied for 2 years with Toronto’s Second City, following which she had her own successful improv troupe. Natalie studied acting in Toronto, Frankfurt, New York and L.A. where she now lives, working hard at her dual careers.

A rare breed of comic being both funny and clean, her innocent, bright persona and compelling facial and physical dynamics draw frequent comparisons to Lucille Ball.

Moving from extensive work in realism
to the world of abstract expressionism,
on the fine art circuit Natalie has been dubbed
the New Jackson Pollock.

Her abstract art is now sold
in 86 galleries around the world
alongside original works by Picasso, Dali and Chagall.

With the paint not even dry on Adam’s, er... fingers!
there came word that Playboy, having seen some of
Natalie’s work, was suddenly eager to enlist her services.

There were emails.
There were faxes.
There were even... yes... Playmates!

And so it was that our little artist
broke ground as the first ever designer
for Playboy Footwear!

Her creative, out of the box thinking also
resulted in a new branding icon for Playboy;
the use of only the rabbit ears as a product emblem.
This is now in use on Playboy merchandise around the globe and the idea is fully credited to Natalie.

Natalie also designed the entire collection of footwear
for Pamela Anderson which will be worn by the lead
actress in the new Damon Wayans feature, ‘Behind the Smile’.

Natalie has recently left the world of shoe design behind
along with her extensive travels to Europe and China
in order to keep up with the demand for her fine art and
return to her passion of writing and performing
standup comedy.

Then she got the commission of a lifetime!
Although it had nothing to do with shoes,
how could an artist refuse the offer to singlehandedly
paint an entire reproduction of the Sistine Chapel?

It took Michelangelo 520 days
It took Natalie 520 hours
But she had Starbucks!!

Natalie researched the styles and genres and found herself adapting seemlessly to an endless scope of projects, including lamps designed specifically for children.
Born in Birmingham, England, Natalie has had an amazing, yet completely unplanned career as an artist.

Her parents bought her a handful of art supplies when she was just a young girl as she had already displayed natural artistic ability.
The first thing she painted was a portrait of Sting on her t-shirt and when she wore it to school, well, the rest is history.

Within only months, Natalie’s handpainted designs were being distributed worldwide to tourist resorts. It wasn’t long before the inevitable happened and she opened her own retail location.

The Byward Market in Ottawa, Canada was Natalie’s first retail venture. For three summers, still just a teen, she sold her work. At age 22, she opened the first handpainted-only clothing store in North America and was profiled on TV shows as far away as Tokyo.

The thing most people find amazing is that this highly accomplished artist
has never taken an art class.

Her comedy has been called “timeless” and “classic” and “a modern day Mary Tyler Moore”

She recently won “Best New Comic in the Valley” in L.A.
and shot 2 shows for E! Entertainment which currently air nationally.

These past few years have brought yet another avenue for Nat’s self-described overactive imagination. Contracted by a design firm in Los Angeles to sketch renderings of lamps
(I know, she thought it was bizarre too!) the company loved her work so much that they urged her to draw her own ideas.

Natalie’s lamps, tables and picture frame ideas were instantly a hit, being manufactured in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia and then distributed globally.

She was asked to design other home items such as furniture, clocks & picture frames.

As a shoe designer Natalie has been quoted in both
the L.A. Times and Entertainment Weekly.
Following the success of the lamps and furnishings, the design company asked Natalie what she would like to design?
Fancying the idea of getting free shoes, the answer was simple!
She landed her first job with Chinese Laundry and contracts for heavy hitters like Birkenstock and Bebe followed.
